The Red Panda is one of the cutest animals on the planet! Of course, that’s all relative. But it is almost impossible not to swoon if you have the opportunity to see one in person. Luckily for all ATLiens, the Red Panda is one of the many wild animals that call Zoo Atlanta home, and you can get up close and personal with this adorable creature.
Native to mountain forests of southern China and the Himalayas, red pandas are the only living species of their family, Ailuridae. As they are the only remaining members of their family, their conservation is critical to maintaining an important link in global biodiversity.
Take your Red Panda obsession to the next level, and visit the zoo on International Red Panda Day. Every year, the third Saturday in September is a day to shine the spotlight on the original panda, and Zoo Atlanta celebrate this unique honorary day to raise awareness for the very special animal.
Find out the differences between the red panda and the giant panda, discover the power of social activism, become a Red Pander Ranger for fun activities, and so much more. Zoo Atlanta is where you want to be on International Red Panda Day, especially if you’ve found it difficult to stop thinking about the animal since watching Pixar’s enchanting Turning Red earlier this year.
International Red Panda Day is taking place on Saturday, September 17. All the special activities for this day are free with General Admission to the zoo. To get your tickets for Zoo Atlanta, click here.
