As the year ends, we’re looking back on some of the best, craziest, and most culture-changing moments, and one in particular stands out: the wild ride that was ‘Who TF Did I Marry’ on TikTok.
Wait, what?
Let us break it down for you:
In late February last year, TikTok was taken by storm by the harrowing story of an Atlanta woman’s insane relationship with a manipulative man. If you missed it, it’s a five-hour, 50-part TikTok Series (learn more about it here!), and we highly recommend giving it a listen.
Viewers both sympathized with the Atlanta woman, Reesa Teesa, whose real name is Tareasa Johnson, and questioned her decisions–but one thing was overwhelmingly true: we all wanted her to get her bag.
From there, ‘Who TF Did I Marry’ secured a TV show, produced by Natasha Rothwell.
So what’s going on now?
Well, the (already insanely long) saga continues! This year, Betches, a massive New York-based comedy platform written by and for women, has announced that Reesa Teesa is 2024’s Betch of the Year!
What does it mean to be the ‘Betch of the Year’?
Every year, ‘Betches’ chooses a ‘Betch of the Year,’ presented by Dunkin’ which is “an annual pulse check celebrating the moments that defined internet culture throughout 2024.”
This year, they let their viewers vote! And they overwhelmingly chose Atlanta’s own Reesa Teesa as ‘Betch of the Year!’
Other winners include:
- Jack Schlossberg (Babygirl of the Year)
- Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni (Feud of the Year)
- Megan Boni – Looking For a Man in Finance (Song of the Year)
You go, Reesa Teesa! We’re glad you shared your story with us in 2024, and we can’t wait to watch you THRIVE in 2025!
