It’s strawberry picking season, Atlanta!
When spring is in full bloom, going strawberry picking is always an enjoyable (and delicious) day out here in Georgia! With warmer and brighter weather, flowers in full bloom, and strawberries in season, what are you waiting for?
In and around the Atlanta Metro area, there are several places to pick strawberries. There’s even some family fun options like farms where you could spend the whole day, and Strawberry Festivals! Strawberry picking season can fluctuate a little depending on the year, but it’s about to begin and will soon be in full swing right here in Georgia, usually starting in April and expected to last until May/early June. Always double check with the farm before expecting the u-pick options to be open.
1. Southern Belle Farm
Where: McDonough
Southern Belle Farm is a family owned 330 acre working farm. They are open seasonally for fresh produce, berry picking, peach picking, fall fun, and much more! Escape the city and travel to the country to pick strawberries right from the field! You’re invited to stay and play at the farm, too! You can’t leave this place without trying their homemade strawberry ice-cream!
2. Mitcham Farm
Where: Oxford, Georgia
About thirty minutes northwest of the city is Mitcham Farm. There’s an array of seasonal activities on offer throughout the year and is a great family day out! Mitcham Farm holds a Strawberry Festival annually, with attractions, food and drink, live music and entertainment! This years will be taking place on Saturday, April 30th & Sunday, May 1st.. 3. Narrow Way Farm
Where: McDonough
A family farm that understands the importance of wholesome fresh food, Narrow Way is a great option for strawberry picking! Make sure you grab a jar of jam if you’re a jam lover. In fact, you should take a couple just incase!
4. Adam’s Farm
Where: Fayetteville
This spacious roadside market has an excellent selection for fruits and veggies all year round! Their berry fields are well maintained, clean, and filled with rows and rows of ready to pick strawberries. There are always staff present to assist you in finding the biggest, ripest berries in the bunch!
5. Whitley Farm
Where: Shapsburg
Whitley Farms is a veteran, family owned business. Their you pick farm has a unique, timeless feel. The farm offers strawberries, blueberries, homemade jams, and even honey from their very own bees!
6. Moore Berries
Where: Kathleen
Go even further afield to Kathleen which is near the quaint town of Maron. This place specifies in strawberries so you know it’s going to be the real deal! Their store is also stocked up with jam, jellies, syrups, honey, T-shirt’s, goats milk soap, eggs, olive oils, and of course, fresh strawberries!
