When is Tax Day in Atlanta?
Tax Day is April 15th, 2024. This means that your taxes should be completed by this date.
The Georgia Department of Revenue states: “Georgia Individual Income Tax returns must be received or postmarked by the April 15, 2024 due date.”
What happens if I can’t complete my taxes by the deadline?
If you need more time to file your taxes, you can request an extension through October 15th. You can request this extension directly through the IRS.

You will automatically quality for tax filing extension if one of the following applies to you:
- In a federally declared disaster area
- In the military stationed abroad or serving in a combat zone
- A citizen or resident alien living outside the U.S.
Important Note: the extension refers only to the filing of your taxes; you still must pay any owed taxes by the April 15th deadline.
