You might’ve seen Atlanta’s hauntingly fun hearse book-mobile popping up at events around town… and now we’ve got great news for all its fans! The Grim Reader is officially getting a brick-and-mortar storefront! In other words, all your spooky favs will be in one spot.
Founder Olivia Doyle says,
We delightfully learned that Atlanta really loves spooky books and strange spaces. So we decided to put roots down and build a place where people could come hang out, browse eerie books, and feel extremely normal about loving weird things… We want this to be a space that feels like a secret club, a creative refuge, and a slightly haunted living room all at once, a place to celebrate stories that are weird, dark, funny, emotional, unsettling, and wonderful.
Wait… what is The Grim Reader?
The Grim Reader Bookshop is an Atlanta-based horror and dark fiction bookstore that began life inside a converted hearse named Winnie. The mobile book shop was always dedicated to bringing the best horror, gothic lit, and other types of spooky stories around to different pop-up events in the ATL.
And now, they’ll be able to bring you the same amazing books from their new storefront, opening in Blandtown.
But The Grim Reader is not just a bookstore…
The new Grim Reader storefront will also function as a “moody third space,” In other words, it’s not home or work–but it’s still a place you can go to feel comfy and seen. And build a community!
The Grim Reader will be filled with horror novels, dark fiction, odd little treasures, small artists, local creators, and community events. Think gothic vibes, cozy corners, and a warm welcome for anyone who’s ever felt a little too strange for a traditional bookstore.
Oh, and don’t worry, Winnie the hearse will still roam the streets of Atlanta and haunt an event near you soon.
I’ve gotta check this out! Give me the details.
