Sitting on a 330-acre lot, Tyler Perry Studios is currently one of the largest production facilities in the entire United States… and we’ve got some big news. It looks like they might be expanding even further. Keep scrolling for all the details on this new development!
What is Tyler Perry planning to build in this new expansion?
The proposed project is called “Tyler Perry Entertainment District” and is labeled as a “mixed-use” development.
According to the project proposal,
The proposed project is for the redevelopment of a 38-acre portion of the Fort McPherson Base, located at 1801 Lee Street SW, Atlanta, GA 30311, within Fulton County. The project will have a variety of building uses, including office space, retail space, theatre, and associated parking.
What are the details for Tyler Perry’s new entertainment district?

The report says that the entertainment district would be roughly 1.3 million square feet, and intends to be finished with construction by January of 2028. And that might seem far off, but it’s actually just around the corner!
This isn’t the first time Tyler Perry has looked at expanding the studio…
According to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
Perry has wanted to grow his media empire in southwest Atlanta. Last year, he paused an $800 million expansion that would have added new soundstages and back lot set pieces. Perry said at the time he was concerned video-related artificial intelligence could hamper demand for traditional filmmaking.
Some reports also indicated that this mixed-use entertainment district would be open to the public, which would be the first time Tyler Perry’s lot was accessible to the general public.
