The third iteration of Atlanta Contemporary’s love-letter to dance is returning! Collaborating with Dance Canvas, a non-profit providing professional dance opportunities in Atlanta, artists will be given a nine-week choreographic residency at the beloved gallery.
Both Dance Canvas and Atlanta Contemporary believe in ·”the power of art” with this residency offering resources to support dance artists in metro Atlanta.
The nine-week residency will provide a set of artists with time to create an exciting new piece. From July 9th until September 10th, choreographers will work in the Pavilion and incubate, ideate, and create this new work in response to the social/cultural current climate in our communities.
There will be a mid-summer showing on August 13 and a final performance on September 11. For more information on this unmissable collaboration, especially if you’re a dance-lover, click here.
The Atlanta Contemporary is one of the many ways to experience art for free in the ATL (although you do need to reserve). As one of the southeast’s leading contemporary art centers, they have continuously highlighted consequential artists and creatives from the local, national, and international art scenes through various exhibition, project spaces, and programs, like this dance residency.
