Some love it, some hate it, but it’s here! MARTA have announced that it’s getting a brand new look, so it’s finally time to say goodbye to the vintage, and hello to the 21st century.
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) held its State of MARTA 2022 virtual event on January 12 2022. The event included the unveiling of MARTA’s brand new look, hosted this year by Council for Quality Growth.
The new design is sleek, whilst reigning true to MARTA’s iconic signature colors and branding. What’s extra special about the new design is that users of our transit system had the chance to help.
The modern and updated design from MARTA will be manufactured into 254 new railcars, which will be ready to board in 2023. With the help of transit riders, designers made comfort a priority, with a modern, technological approach for the interiors. The outside of has received mixed reviews on our Instagram. However, we’re sure they’ll look sleek and modern once rolled out.

The interior features an open connection so riders can walk the entire length of the train, with an ample of seating options, as well as spacious luggage and bicycle areas. You’ll even be able to charge your devices, with charging stations scattered across the carriages.
