From WandaVision to Dr. Strange, Atlanta is a hotspot for Marvel movie magic!
You might have noticed Atlanta making a cameo in Marvel’s star-studded collection of movies. Atlanta is certainly solidifying itself as ‘the Hollywood of the South’, with many studios using the ATL as their canvas for some epic films and movie magic.
Marvel in particular has taken a keen interest in A-Town. Pictured above (@filmtourismus via Instagram) is Piedmont Park disguised as NYC with Doctor Strange at the beginning of ‘Infinity War’. Keep scrolling for other spots in and around the ATL, as seen in the superhero classics.
1. Piedmont Park
Many superheroes have been spotted in Piedmont Park including Doctor Strange, Iron Man (pictured above), and more! See if you can spot some some of the backdrops from the beginning of ‘Infinity Wars’ next time you’re in Piedmont.
2. High Museum of Art
Pay close attention during ‘Black Panther’ and you might notice that the “Museum of Great Britain” is actually the High Museum of Art.
3. Atlanta Marriott Marquis
One of Atlanta’s architectural masterpieces, the Atlanta Marriott Marquis stands out for its unique architecture in ATL’s Hotel District. Hence why it’s been featured in so many Hollywood blockbusters. From Loki to Spiderman: Homecoming, you might’ve spotted this in many-a-Marvel movie. However, you might also recognize it from the Hunger Games.
4. Sweet Auburn
As the epicenter for the Civil Right’s Movement and Atlanta’s influential Black history, it’s more than fitting to see Sweet Auburn make an appearence in Marvel’s Black Panther. Pictured above is the late Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa at the Wheat Street Towers near the historic district.
