Of course, being a popular film city itself, Atlanta has some of the best, most comfortable and artsy movie theaters around! You and your partner can always hit up the local AMCs, grab a big bucket of popcorn and some Cokes, or go to one of Atlanta’s more unique theaters.
We recommend seeing something in 35 mm at the historic Plaza theatre, where the Atlanta Film Festival is hosted, or going to the iconic Tara Theater to see some cool vintage film memorabilia!
4. Visit the only two whale sharks in the U.S. at the Georgia Aquarium
Watch the luminescent jellyfish or the adorable Beluga whales with your significant other at the truly iconic Georgia Aquarium, located in the heart of downtown. This 11 million gallon aquarium is one of the most famous in the entire world, and is proudly the only aquarium with two adult whale sharks. Our whale sharks were rescues from the fish market in Taiwan (which now bans the killing of whale sharks in their waters), and you can actually swim WITH them during certain times!
And check out one of the Aquarium’s Sips Under The Sea nights, where you can grab tapas and drinks with the most romantic backdrop–under the ocean!
For more information, check out the aquarium’s website!
5. Wander through the Atlanta Botanical Garden
The Atlanta Botanical Garden is a huge green space right in the heart of the city. We have beautiful plants and walking trails year round, which are perfect for you and your significant other to take a romantic stroll! There are also lots of awesome seasonal events, like the Scarecrows in the Garden exhibit in the fall or the Garden Lights, Holiday Nights exhibit in the winter, and so many more!
For more information, check out the garden’s website!
There’s nothing more romantic than listening to a beautiful orchestra surrounded by thousands of dazzling LED candles. Candlelight Concerts pay tribute to all kinds of music: from beautiful movie scores, to your favorite pop icons, to holiday favorites, you can pick what’s best for you and your significant other! Candlelight concerts are sure to put you in a romantic mood.
7. Take a stroll down the Atlanta Beltline
A former railway corridor, the Atlanta Beltline is now a fully planned out walking trail, where people love to come to stroll, skate, bike, and enjoy the outdoors. There are also tons of hotspots along the Beltline with clusters of restaurants, bars, treat shops, and stores. Take a romantic walk with your partner while eating some delicious local ice cream, grab an electric scooter and sail down the paved walkway, or take a break at one of the amazing restaurants along the trail.
8. See the beautiful art at the High Museum of Art
The High is in the center of Atlanta’s beautiful arts district, Midtown, and is nestled among the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Alliance Theatre. The most renowned collection of art in the Southeast, the High is the perfect place to take your sweetheart. There are four stories of art and a lower story with a cafe and education center.
The High includes several permanent exhibits, as well as always hosting a fresh and exciting new exhibit as well! The art is stunning, but of course, the best thing to look at is who you came with! (Feel free to use that line!)
9. Take a hike through some of the beautiful wilderness in and near Atlanta
If you and your boo are lovers of the great outdoors, Atlanta has some great hikes! Hiking trails range from short strolls through nature all the way to overnight backpacking adventures. For the full list of great hikes in the A, check out our list!
And for a few specific recommendations, we suggest trying out these hikes below!

10. Take a ride on our permanent ferris wheel, SkyView Atlanta
Everyone knows that there’s nothing quite as romantic as sharing a kiss at the top of the ferris wheel! And even though Atlanta has some amazing fairs that are in town for a few weeks at a time, we also proudly have a permanent ferris wheel, right in the heart of downtown, beside Centennial Olympic Park. See the whole city from the sky, from the comfort of one of the 42 climate-controlled, private gondolas. The views really do, much like your partner, take your breath away!
