Labor Day weekend is here and there’s so much to do all weekend in Atlanta. Hopefully you have an extra day off work or school, so you can take advantage of all the Labor Day happenings in the ATL. As well as special Labor Day events, there’s festivals, and so much more going on in the city.
1. Art in the Park
Marietta’s Art in the Park is back this Labor Day weekend, promising three days celebrating the arts and local artists. incredible three-day juried Fine Art Festival takes place on the historic Marietta Square in Glover Park and attracts over 50,000 guests.
You can expect fine art offerings, fun activities for all-ages, and so much more. Purchase your favorite pieces, and support our hard-working ATL artists, as well as artists from all over the world who make that annual trip to Marietta for this renowned festival.
2. Pop Basel Returns To Atlanta’s Art Scene For The Fifth Year In A Row
It may not be the Miami Art Basel, but Atlanta’s Pop Basel showcases over 100 emerging creatives from around the world. This is the fifth year in the row that Pop Basel will be hosted in Atlanta and each year it is bigger and better. This year is no different!
Pop Basel Con was founded in 2017 by William “King Pop” Floyd. Floyd is known for his art and production on sets such as Rap Snacks, Black Lighting, The Originals and several other celebratory works. The purpose of Pop Basel was to create a space for emerging artist and rising stars through art exhibitions, vendors markets and live music performances.
3. Atlanta Black Pride
Atlanta Black Pride is about to make its fabulous return, and kick things off for an epic celebration filled with unmissable things to do. Including (but not limited to) a free music festival and a whole lot of partying! The festival and jam-packed weekend is one of the largest Black LGBTQ+ events in the United States, with over 140,000 expected attendees annually.
4. Ponce City Market Hosts Its Annual End of The Summer Luau
The end of anything is almost always bitter sweet. Happy to start new beginnings, but a little hesitant to let it go (whatever it may be). Ponce City Market is helping ease us into processing our summertime sadness by hosting an end of summer luau.
Sponsored by Cazadores Tequila, the end of the summer luau will be held next Saturday September 3 at 6:00pm. Guests can expect to enjoy a Hawaiian seafood buffet while enjoying traditional Polynesian entertainment. The terrace will be transformed into the ultimate beach party. Guest will feel like they’re on the beaches of Maui, minus the expensive airfare.
5. Hampton + Hudson Tailgate
Football season is right around the corner! You know what that means? Cool nights on the patio, crisp air, team hats & hoodies sounds like fall to me. Hampton + Hudson is the official bar partner of Atlanta United, but they are taping into the football fanbase this season. Saturday September 3 at 3:30 pm Hampton + Hudson will be kicking off their tailgate for the Chic-fil-A Kickoff game (UGA v. Oregon). They will be converting their outdoor bar area into H+H tailgate city. Guests can expect beer, cocktails, caramel apples, apple cider doughnut holes and popcorn (all the fall goodies!). Guests are also encouraged to bring their pet, since they have dog friendly patio. You can dress them up in your teams gear and really stand out!
6. Dragon Con 2022
As one of the most well attended pop-culture conventions in the country, Atlanta is certainly the place to be on Labor Day weekend! It’s the perfect convention for any proud geek, nerd, or combination of both, to express themselves and delve into the star-studded lineup for Dragon Con 2022.
7. The Bridgerton Experience
Acclaimed Atlantans, if you are looking to attend the social event of the season, then gather your finest Regency-inspired ensemble and prepare to surround yourself in the dreamlike world of Shondaland’s Bridgerton at The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience. Guests will be immersed in the year 1813 with a chance to interact with Queen Charlotte, explore set recreations, such as the sought-after Modiste, and take in beautiful performances throughout the enchanting evening.
8. 6 Must Experience Georgia Wineries With Breathtaking View
There’s nothing like a delicious wine and a good charcuterie board AND even better company! While Atlanta is a growing city, there is still so much lush greenery we get to experience. 9. National Cinema Day
Watching movies has always been a favorite American pastime. With National Cinema Day right around the corner on September 3, it’s the perfect time to catch up on new releases.
