The Atlanta Pride Committee is Georgia’s oldest non-profit agency serving the LGBTQ community and serves as an advocate of gender and sexually diverse communities in Atlanta and the Southeast. Their most beloved operations include the annual Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade, one of the largest Pride celebrations in the South.
However, there’s more than the one parade happening throughout the weekend. In fact, The Atlanta Pride Committee produces three marches as well as the official Festival Parade. The star-studded line-up for the Atlanta Pride festival was recently announced, including (but not limited to) Big Freedia, Betty Who, and Flo Rida.
Here’s where you need to be and when you need to be there, for every single parade happening throughout Atlanta Pride weekend:
The Annual Trans March
Where: Begins at the Charles Allen Gate (detailed map – yellow route)
When: Saturday, October 8 (Meet time is 1:15pm, Set-off at 1:45pm)
This march celebrates and promotes visibility of the Trans community in Atlanta, and beyond. The march takes place on the Festival grounds at Piedmont Park. All Trans people and Trans allies are welcome to take part, and bring along some signage in support of Trans issues.
The Annual Bi & Pan March
Where: Same as above (detailed map – yellow route)
When: Saturday, October 8 (Meet time is 3:00pm, Set-off at 3:30pm)
This parade celebrates and honors the Bisexual and Pansexual communities. Bi, pan folks of all gender identities, expressions, and their allies are welcome to march and come together to advocate for Bi & Pan people across Atlanta, and whoever decides to visit us for this momentous Pride weekend.
The Annual Dyke March
Where: Same as above (detailed map – yellow route)
When: Saturday, October 8 (Meet time is 4:30pm, Set-off at 5:00pm)
This march is dedicated to the empowerment of the women of Atlanta, the country, and the world. The Dyke March unites women and femmes and their allies to create an atmosphere of inclusion and community. The march is open to all women loving women of all kinds (trans-inclusive), to unite with hopes to nurture and build a new tomorrow.
The Atlanta Pride Parade
Where: The Atlanta Civic Center MARTA Station (detailed map – orange route)
When: Sunday, October 9 (Step-off at noon)
The Atlanta Pride Parade is the biggest event of the Festival. Drawing over 100,000 people along the streets of Midtown Atlanta! Place yourself somewhere on the route early to secure a perfect view of one of the best Pride Parades in the Southeast. This year’s Grand Marshalls include Out Front Theatre, Rhea Wunsch, and Gabrielle Claiborne. For the full list of Grand Marshalls, click here.
The 2022 Atlanta Pride Grand Marshals are comprised of individuals and nonprofits that stood out for their dedication to the LGBTQ+ community. There will be a plethora of other organizations, individuals, and communities following the Marshals before the parade concludes at Piedmont Park, where their unmissable festival will be taking place.
