It’s getting COLD in Atlanta this week! We’re finally seeing some of that winter weather that usually hits Atlanta during the colder months. Of course, Atlanta is known for our more temperate climate, with hot summers and mild winters, but this winter is a cold one!
The National Weather Service predicts that the rest of the week will have relatively moderate days. Temperatures will hover around mid to high 40s and low 50s, but with very cold nights. In fact, tonight (Wednesday, 1/3) temperatures are supposed to drop to 32 degrees, and tomorrow (Thursday, 1/4) temperatures are expected to get to 30 degrees.
On Thursday, you can also expect it to be a windy one, with winds reaching up to 20 mph, you’ll definitely have a shiver go down your spine!
You’ll definitely want to bundle up with a hot cocoa!
It’s freezing? Are we getting snow, then?
Unfortunately (or fortunately, maybe) snow isn’t in the forecast. Our best chance for precipitation this week is Friday night, when the temperatures are supposed to rest around 38 degrees. That’s about six degrees too warm for snow. However, still take driving and outdoor precautions to ensure you’re safe during the cold parts of the night.
All the cold-weather lovers can rejoice. We’re finally getting some real ‘sweater weather’ in Atlanta. These weather trends are right on track with the type of weather we were experiencing last year around this time, too. And both years have been a little colder than usual for the area.
We can expect an overall chilly, wet winter without a huge chance of snow… but as always, we’ll wait and see! And you might’ve had to break out your windshield ice/frost scraper in the mornings to drive safely!
Happy wintertime, Atlanta! Stay warm!
